Top100Golf.blogspot.com is where we can read the journals of a blogger who has spent the last few years trying to play the Top 100 Golf Courses in the world. For our third year, he shares his accomplishments and reviews of the nine courses he played in 2008. Thanks to a GOLF SMARTER listener, he was able to get on and play the private Tokyo Golf Club. More evidence that Golf Smarter is a team with a common goal. He also shares some of the unique cultural differences that he discovered in Japan. We complete 2008 dedicating the ending quote to our guest. Architect Pete Dye once said "The ardent golfer would play Mount Everest if somebody would put a flag stick on top." * Send us your favorite golf quote to use at the end of the program. We'll give you credit, too. Click on "Hey Fred" at GolfSmarter.com and use "Quote" as your subject. * Let us know what you thought of this program and the content of GOLF SMARTER. Mike "Fluff" Cowan, PGA Tour caddie is stepping up to the tee as a competitive golfer at this year's ADT Golf Skills Challenge, broadcast on NBC December 27 & 28. Being a playing partner alongside Peter Jacobsen is out of his comfort zone since he carried Jacobsen's bag on the tour for many years before he caddied for the young rookie phenom, Tiger Woods. He currently carries for Jim Furyk. On episode #158 of the GOLF SMARTER podcast, Fluff shares his entertaining history of how he became a caddie on the Tour, his competitive nature, life on the tour but off the course, and how his course management skills takes his player to the top of the leader board. This week's quote comes from David Hundley, who encourages his playing partners that come up short on short putts by reciting. "Were you aware of a recent PGA, LPGA, USGA, and R&A comprehensive putting survey, conducted over the last seven years, evaluating players of all handicaps, all ages (with established handicaps), grass species, and weather conditions, found that 85% of short putts don't go in?" * Send us your favorite golf quote to use at the end of the program. We'll give you credit, too. Click on "Hey Fred" at GolfSmarter.com and use "Quote" as your subject. * Let us know what you thought of this program and the content of GOLF SMARTER. Imagine you are tired from 17 holes of unrelenting frustration. At the last hole, on your last legs, you tee up and swing. Somehow, your driver, which until now was only two heartbeats from a watery grave, doesn't merely strike the golf ball, but goes through it in such a way that the tee hardly budges. Many people have had that moment. Some people know that moment is teachable. But few people know how to teach it like David Leadbetter's right-hand man, Instructor Sean Hogan. On episode #157 of GOLF SMARTER, Sean shares tips, stories, and much more. This week's quote comes from Ken Schreck, who reminds us of the words of the late entertainer Dean Martin, who said "If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt." * Send us your favorite golf quote to use at the end of the program. We'll give you credit, too.
